There is a possibility that educational institutions in Bihar may reopen after February 6, as the pace of the third wave of COVID-19 infections has slowed down. If the current rate of infection remains stable or decreases, it is likely that all government and private schools, colleges, coaching centers, and other educational institutions in the state will be allowed to reopen from February 7. However, the final decision will be taken in a meeting of the disaster management group formed by the state government. It is believed that this meeting will be chaired by the Chief Secretary on February 5 since the current directives regarding COVID-19 issued by the state government are applicable until February 6. While all educational institutions remain closed under these guidelines, their offices are operating with 50% attendance.

Education Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, in a conversation with Hindustan on Monday regarding the preparations for reopening schools from February 7th, stated that the Education Department intends to open educational institutions. However, we do not want to risk the health of children by operating schools. The number of COVID-19 infections has significantly decreased. The Disaster Management Group will assess the risks to children before making a final decision on reopening schools. Continuous closure of schools has caused significant academic loss to children. Therefore, we want to put an end to irregularities in education. Considering improvements in the situation, all schools up until class 8 can reopen with 50% capacity while all higher classes and colleges as well as coaching institutes can operate at full capacity.
